Ambasciatore italiano, attualmente Presidente di SORGENIA S.p.A. Durante la sua carriera al Ministero degli Affari Esteri ha ricoperto ruoli di massima responsabilità, tra cui Capo di Gabinetto di tre Ministri degli Esteri e Segretario Generale del Ministero. È stato Ambasciatore d’Italia in Afghanistan e in Cina, Rappresentante Speciale dell’UE per Af-Pak e Capo della Delegazione UE in Albania. Ha lavorato anche in Iran e alle Nazioni Unite a New York. Oggi è Direttore dell’Atlante Geopolitico Treccani, Vicepresidente di SACE e Segretario Generale dell’European Corporate Council on Africa and the Middle East.
